Comparable Roles
Role 1: Cogsworth — Beauty and the Beast
A man of structure and routine, he operates with clear rules and expectations about how the world should function. Emotionally restrained and precise, he reacts to chaos rather than creating it. Comedy emerges through his attempts to impose order on situations that refuse to behave logically.
Role 2: Spock — Star Trek
A character driven by logic above all else, he approaches every situation analytically, even when surrounded by emotional or irrational behaviour. Emotionally reserved and precise in speech, with humour arising from the contrast between his logic and the world around him.
Role 3: Mr. Banks — Mary Poppins
A man of hierarchy and discipline, he believes in order, structure, and clear systems. Initially rigid and controlled, he struggles when confronted with unpredictability. His journey often involves reconciling logic with a more chaotic emotional world.
AUDITION TIPS: Bedivere sadly doesn’t get much to do in the confines of the script, so there’s a lot of room to make it your own. Otherwise I would play him as a bit doddery and air-headed, detached from the story and somewhat off with the fairies.
