GWEN DERRICK YOUTH DEVELOPMENT FUND

This Fund has been established thanks to a generous donation by Life Member Gwen Derrick.


The WTG Committee has committed to match the initial donation dollar for dollar in the first year, and look to increase its contribution in subsequent years. It will also actively look for donations to increase the potential of the Fund, and apply to obtain both charity status and Gift Deductibility Recipient status.


The aim of the Gwen Derrick Youth Development Fund is to offer education and training opportunities for local youth to gain experience in non-performing production elements of theatre.

Previous recipients:

 

Mungo Trumble – completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts – Production. Mungo used funds received towards this qualification

 

Tierney Lillyman – overseas training, as make up assistant, with Global Hair and Makeup

 

Oscar Llewellyn – attended 2 x courses at NIDA (Sydney)in Lighting design

Elly Stringer -  funds used towards her Bachelors degree in Creative direction and styling.

A maximum of $5,000 will be distributed per year. This may be spread between one or more recipients (but an Award will not be made if there are no suitable nominations in a year).


To be eligible a candidate must be a member of WTG between the ages of 15 and 25 and have participated in at least one WTG production.
 

Selection criteria:

  • Nominations of members can be made by members of WTG.

  • Individual members may nominate themselves.

  • Panel will receive written nominations.

  • Selection Panel will interview applicants.

  • Applicants can nominate the area in which they wish to train and/or a specific workshop, course etc. or WTG can source specific courses or other opportunities.

 

Awarding criteria:

The Selection Panel will consider if the area nominated to train in is relevant and of benefit to WTG as part of the selection process.

Individual terms and conditions of the Award will be negotiated between the recipient and the Selection Panel. 

 

Placement:

Any training course or placement must be with a professional, accredited organisation or individual in the chosen field.

Indicative Timeline:

  • 1st August Nominations open

  • 31st  August Nominations close

  • Early September Interviews of applicants

  • Mid September successful applicant announced

  • Following Year Commencement of course
